Battery Operated Omnidirectional Mover To Canada
Project Overview
Recently, we have successfully delivered a customized battery operated omnidirectional mobile mover for a Canadian manufacturing client. The customer is engaged in the production of automotive parts and precision electronic components. With the production capacity upgrading, there is an urgent need to optimize the internal material handling process in the workshop, in order to adapt to the North American market’s stringent production efficiency and environmental standards.
Material Handling Challenges
The customer’s workshop is a multi-storey, dense layout. The first floor of the production area channel is only 1.8 meters wide, the traditional handling equipment has a large turning radius, easy to collide with the surrounding facilities, and the need to reserve space for steering results in insufficient space utilization, restricting the production capacity.
At the same time, the production of heavy parts to ± 1mm precision docking operating platform, forklift manual operation is difficult to meet the standard. Material transfer needs to move in multiple directions; the traditional equipment trajectory is single, needs to be adjusted many times, and operational efficiency is low.
Why Omnidirectional Mover is the Optimal Solution?
Analysis of Omnidirectional Mobile Technology
The delivery battery transfer trolley adopts McNamee wheel omnidirectional drive technology, the core of which consists of 4 left-rotating and right-rotating symmetrically distributed McNamee wheels, and each wheel is equipped with an independent drive motor, which can independently control the rotational speed and steering.
Its principle is based on the decomposition and synthesis of friction force, and the driving force is decomposed into longitudinal and transversal partitions through oblique rollers, and then controlled through the synergy of the four wheels to realize any trajectory movement, such as forward, traverse, diagonal, and in-situ 360°rotation, which breaks the movement limitations of traditional wheeled equipment.
360°Movement to Break the Space and Alignment Problems
For space constraints, omnidirectional mover does not need to reserve space for steering, and can pan laterally along the channel, flexibly shuttling within the 1.8-meter wide channel, significantly improving the space utilization rate.
In terms of precise alignment, relying on the independent motor closed-loop control and laser positioning system, the equipment positioning accuracy can reach ±1mm, and the materials can be directly docked to the operating platform at one time, without the need for secondary manual adjustment, thus completely solving the alignment problem.
Battery Driven Design for Indoor Operation
Compared with fuel equipment, battery driven transfer cart has no exhaust emission and noise pollution, which is fully compatible with the environmental standards of Canadian indoor workshops and guarantees the comfort of the working environment.
Equipped with high-performance lithium batteries, transfer cart supports automatic low-battery charging without manual intervention, and low maintenance costs, battery life of up to 3-5 years, long-term operating economy is significantly better than traditional equipment.

Omnidirectional Mover Core Technical Parameters
- Load capacity and platform size
The delivery of transfer cart load rating of 2.5 tons, platform size customized for 2300mm × 1500mm, height 450mm, can be adapted to the customer’s mainstream parts size. At the same time, it supports 1-10 tons load capacity and personalized size customization to meet different material requirements.
- Drive system, wheel configuration and control mode
The drive system adopts 4 sets of servo drive motors with a peak torque of 220N-m, matched with CMA-31 type McNamee wheels with wheel diameter of 310mm, which have good ground adaptability and load stability.
The control mode supports wireless remote control and upper computer command control dual mode, remote control distance up to 50 meters, simple operation, ordinary employees can start after a short period of training, without professional forklift driver qualification.
- Battery system and range
Equipped with Ningde Times high-performance lithium battery, capacity 100Ah, full battery life of up to 12 hours at room temperature, fully covering the needs of two-shift operation. Excellent charging efficiency, from 20% to 80% in 4 hours, supporting intermittent replenishment.
The battery system is equipped with ±2℃ precise temperature control function, which can adapt to different ambient temperatures and guarantee the endurance stability, and the protection level reaches IP54, which is dustproof and waterproof to meet the complex working conditions in the workshop.

Transfer Cart for Low Temperature Environment
Canada’s cold winter, even indoor workshop temperature may be as low as -10 ℃, battery driven transfer cart for the low-temperature environment for the special optimization. The battery system is equipped with inverter heater, which can maintain more than 85% range after 12 hours of immersion in -21℃ low-temperature environment, with no potential risk of range degradation.
Battery driven transfer cart wheelset and seals are made of low-temperature-resistant materials, which can work stably in a -5℃ to 45℃ environment to avoid low-temperature brittle cracks. At the same time, the sensitivity of the motor response under low-temperature working conditions has been specially calibrated to ensure operational accuracy and stability.
In indoor operation, the noise level of the equipment is less than 60dB, which will not interfere with the normal operation of the production line, and there is no exhaust emission, which is in line with the Canadian indoor environmental protection and occupational health standards, and is suitable for clean workshops, precision manufacturing and other high-end scenarios.
